About the Event

The world needs more diversity in science, technology, engineering, and mathmatics. The mission of MDC Iowa is to provide free, hands-on learning opportunities for underrepresented people in STEM. Each participant will receive a STEM kit that has everything needed to complete 13 STEM projects, a "I am a future scientist/technologist/engineer" t-shirt, and a STEM-related book selected by the Soul Book Nook owner.

During this 2-hour event, participants will hear about the importance of STEM, learn about some African American STEM rock stars, see examples of how people can use STEM to innovate and create, and complete one of the projects in the STEM kit.

Adult supervision is required for participants under 10 years-old.

This event would not be possible without the generous support from Veridian Credit Union, the Wegter family, and the Soul Book Nook.
